Biography
FireHawk is one of Nintendo's greatest fans! She's a mad collector of anything and everything Nintendo, and its all thanks to her that I was able to launch the NC Collectibles section. Not only has she helped out massively here but she's contributed some great art to the website as well, so be sure to check out her stuff over in her gallery. One of her pieces 'Sal' also won NC's 2005 Fanart competition. She also proved excellent writing ability in her Twlight Princess-based series The Continuing Legend. No doubt you'll find her name popping up all over NC as she really has contributed to a lot of the sections!

Quick Q&A
1. So most importantly, how did you get into the Legend of Zelda?
It was my Dad's fault. Blame him. When we first got our SNES, he bought A Link to the Past. Although I myself wasn't that good at it to start with (it took me a while to get used to the top-down view), I loved watching him play and following the story. It's true what they say, you know; they just don't make instruction booklets like they used to.
2. And what's your favourite game in the series?
You know what, I have no idea! Don't get me wrong, obviously LTTP holds a very special place in my heart, being the first Zelda game I played and such, and I'm very fond of quite a few others in the series. However, I just can't seem to pin down one favourite. I think I'll stick with LTTP for now. It's the one that I think seems most fitting for the title 'Legend of Zelda'.
3. Why did you choose The Legend of Zelda to devote so much of your creative energy to?
I wasn't aware I devoted 'so much' of my creative energy to LoZ. On second thoughts, I think you've got a point! Again, I don't quite know. I think there's something about the characters and how they can be portrayed in many different ways that can be quite interesting. I know this is probably true for most franchises, but it seems to jump out at me most for LoZ. Plus I like fantasy worlds and creatures!
4. What are the main influences for your work?
Chances are it's thinking too much! Seriously though, I can be influenced by many things. If something jumps out at me in a certain way or strikes a right chord with me, then I might use it for inspirational purposes.
5. What is your favourite piece of work you've done, and why?
To this day, I'm still fond of my 'Link Goes Splat' pic, because let's face it, what could be more fun than seeing Link splat into a tree. I'm also pleased with my Gleeok and Aquamentus paintings, since they ended up looking pretty good for my first attempts at toon-shading with traditional media.
6. Who is your favourite character to write/draw, and why?
I must admit Link is a great character to draw, if only because I like being mean to him, and putting him in weird situations! Gleeok was quite fun to draw too, actually!
7. Are there any fan writers/artists that you admire?
I know she's not an NC artist, but I love Hail Neko-Yasha's work. She has a great sense of humour, and her cartoons never cease to amuse me. I'm also quite fond of Robyn Greenbow's work. I can't really say for writers though, I'm afraid. Judging from her recent fanfic contest entry ('Bargaining'), I'd say Wizera's pretty cool (I must sit down and read some more of her stuff some day!).
8. How did you find North Castle?
I found some of Juliet's Falco fanart (plus the link to NC) on a Star Fox site, and thought it might be interesting to see what else she does. And it was interesting. I think if it wasn't NC, I probably wouldn't know as much about old-school Zelda stuff as I do now (for 'old-school Zelda stuff' read 'Zelda cartoon series'!).
9. Why did you decide to post your work at North Castle?
Why not? It's a great site, and I feel honoured to have my artwork, crazy write-ups, and bad photos of my merchandise posted there!
10. Finally, any plans for the future regarding your work?
Art-wise, it will be the same as always; if I get a good idea that needs to go on paper, I will do it. I have a couple of non-Zelda projects on the go at the moment as well, though, so I can't make any guarantees. Of course, I'm always on the lookout for great Nintendo merchandise, so that's something you can count on.
