Biography

I believe I first met Kai when he asked to affiliate his wonderful site, Hylian Revolutions, with NC. Intrigued, I soon got to know him better and discovered he had other talents too! Most people will probably recognise Kai for his really distinctive artwork - check out his gallery here - his sketches are simple yet effective and the dashes of colour make them even more special. Along with his website and art, Kai also makes great music! You can hear some of his songs on Zelda Radio's shows and I hope to get the full collection showcased on NC sometime soon.

Quick Q&A

1. So most importantly, how did you get into the Legend of Zelda?

Well, I basically started to play Link's Awakening on my brother's gameboy, and that did it for me.

2. And what's your favourite game in the series?

Both Link's Awakening and Ocarina of Time (I know, I'm so cutting edge) were favorites for me, but when it comes down to it, Link's Awakening.

3. Why did you choose The Legend of Zelda to devote so much of your creative energy to?

Because... The Legend of Zelda doesn't judge me *bursts out into tears* joking, um, I'm not sure, it just always seemed like a fun thing to do.

4. What are the main influences for your work?

Having played the games, fans that complain about stupid things, and coffee.

5. What is your favourite piece of work you've done, and why?

I remember one time it was really hot, so my friend and I took stringed cheese outside, and melted it on the sidewalk to spell out "Zelda". I was so proud of that. I stil am. "The boy who spelled Zelda out of cheese." is what I want on my gravestone. I hope no one takes that seriously.

6. Who is your favourite character to write/draw, and why?

Well, I would have to say Navi, because she's the easiest. Just a ball with wings.

7. Are there any fan writers/artists that you admire?

I've always liked the way Megan O'Shea writes, but I'm not a writer, so in terms of art, I suppose it would be Tingle. His maps are so distinctive and unique. They're going into a gallery one day.

8. How did you find North Castle?

I cannot remember. I remember seeing it back when I was 11 or so (way before it had a forum, to my understanding) and I visited it frequently.

9. Why did you decide to post your work at North Castle?

Because It's basically the coolest Zelda fansite there will ever be. And I'm on it!

10. Finally, any plans for the future regarding your work?

No, my scanner's broken. I did start to draw some dirty pictures, like Deku Tree X Jabu Jabu stuff, but as I said, my scanner's broken. I know some people are really looking forward to that, but they'll just have to wait a while.
